Why Indigenous Food Sovereignty Matters
Cal Poly Humboldt’s Virtual Zoom Wednesdays returns for fall 2023 on September 6th, with Dr. Kaitlin Reed, Native American Studies Assistant Professor at Cal Poly Humboldt. The presentation will discuss how Indigenous food sovereignty is a continuation of the anticolonial struggle that reconnects land-based food systems with political structures and spiritual teachings, and how learning about food sovereignty teaches us how and why relationships to our food sources and systems are fundamental to the existence of people and nature.
