SUMMARY:SEMINAR: NATIONAL COLLABORATIVE FOR RESEARCH ON FOOD, ENERGY, AND WATER EDUCATION (NC-FEW)
DESCRIPTION:Fulfilling the Land-Grant Mission in a Modern Context: Ensuring Equitable Education via Cooperative Extension\nThe primary mission of the NC-FEW Virtual Workshop Series, Integrating Research and Practice, is to establish NC-FEW as a hub for a networked improvement community (NIC) that will advance education research and educational programming grounded in the FEW-Nexus. To that end, NC-FEW sponsors a quarterly virtual workshop series with panels, activities, and research presentations related to current FEW education topics. Generally, our virtual workshops cover recent Theory and Methods, with an emphasis on Design Based Research and Critical Research and Perspectives.\nThe January 24th seminar speaker will be Dr. Antonio Silas, Baltimore City Extension Director, University of Maryland Extension. Dr. Antonio Silas is a strategic administrative leader with nearly 18 years of experience in the realms of higher education and the federal government. He currently serves as the Baltimore City Extension Director for the University of Maryland Extension. In this role, he leads an office of talented faculty that are dedicated to supporting the residents of Baltimore through educational programming and impactful partnerships. He views education as a catalyst in creating impactful, engaged, informed, and resilient communities. In this workshop Dr. Silas will provide an overview of how his faculty and staff work to ensure that the office’s educational offerings are accessible and equitable to the communities they serve.
